The Renal Excretion of Bilirubin in Dogs with Obstructive Jaundice.

Dogs and humans excrete only conjugated bilirubin in the urine, principally the diglucuronide, and unconjugated bilirubin is not excreted by the kidneys (1). Previous studies concerning the renal excretion of bilirubin have not resolved the issue of whether it is filtered through the glomeruli or is secreted by the tubules (2, 3). Bilirubin in the plasma has been reported to be completely bound...

The importance of C-reactive protein and other inflammatory markers in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a condition associated with inflammation in lungs and airways. The impacts of inflammatory process is not limited to respiratory system but extend to extrapulmonary organs with resultant complications involving endocrine, metabolic and cardiovascular systems. The extent and severity of inflammation may be partly estimated by serum measurement of s...

C-REACTIVE PROTEIN RESPONSE IN ANGINA PECTORIS

C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.

Elevated C-reactive protein values predict nodal metastasis in patients with penile cancer

BACKGROUND The nodal status is a strong predictor for cancer specific death in patients with penile carcinoma, and the C-reactive protein (CRP) level at diagnosis has recently been shown to be associated with poor clinical outcome in various solid malignancies. Therefore, this retrospective study was performed to evaluate the association between preoperative CRP levels and the incidence of noda...

Investigating relationship between C- reactive protein and obesity in adults

Introduction: Association between plasma high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations and cardiovascular disease has been Investigated. C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute phase reactant which is a marker of inflammation in the body. CRP is made by the liver in response to inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα). Adipose ti...
